I have been slack to update my webpage about my participation at LIAF 2024 – the longest-running contemporary art biennial in Scandinavia in Svolvær Lofoten Norway 20 Sept – 20 October 2024 https://www.nnks.no/en/laf24-monica-edmondson-en. The exhibition was curated by Kjersti Solbakken currently the Director of Bergen Kunsthall. Here is my late update and images from these totally mindblowing days up north.

I made three textile artworks, ráno, earlier in the year of 2024 in Olmmáivággi/Manndalen 🇳🇴 in an ancient weaving technique on a warp-weighted standing loom with a mix of traditional and non-traditional materials. My weavings are interpretations of a person or a place in a similar way a vuolle/joik (musical expression by us Sámi) can reflect someone or something.

Here a sneak peak from the opening days of “Gnistsamband / Sparks” in Svolvær Lofoten September 2024.

And finally some images from Olmmáivággi/Manndalen when I made the weavings.

I am so grateful to my excellent mentor Kjellaug Isaksen and Manndalen Husflidslag. Gijtto Thank you!
