During this year 2025 I have worked on a glass- and light installation at Árnnie Tärnaby (previous used as a Sámi school). Info and workprocess images below.

On behalf of Aejlies Saemien Jarnge, I have created a permanent glass and light installation in Árnnie (the old Sami school) in Tärnaby. The work is entitled “Luminosity” and I want the work to reflect both the power of light and the building now used by locals as well as international artists.
For several years in the 1980s, I worked, now and then, as a teacher at the Sami school which has now been converted into a residence building for indigenous artists – Árnnie. The dance hall was a classroom and the teacher’s room was in what is now the residence room at the far end. The railing/espalier connected the up- and downstairs staircase, where downstairs there was another classroom and a wood workshop. At all times, the railing has prevented the students who attended the Sami school from falling down the stairs and I wanted to preserve the old railing, which has been sanded, routed with grooves for hidden electricity and repainted. The railing is now part of the work “Luminosity”.
Faced with the assignment to create something artistic in the building, I wanted to use the power of light as a starting point, to capture warmth and bright thoughts as well as provide strength and courage in a time where our world today often highlights the opposite.
Many thanks to Aejlies for giving me this opportunity and to all professionals I have consulted. And most of all – thank you William Hallin – you are a gem!
