Title: Mujna – Me With
Artist: Monica L Edmondson with LKP
Music: Jarŋŋa
Year: 2026
Mujna – Me With, is a wish for strength, protection and wisdom, to my daughters and others, in times needed.
How can the presence of Máttaráhkko and the foremothers be so strong, yet not visible? And where to find this connection between us and previous as well as future generations?
Gávlos, the carefully crafted detail at the back of the *gábdde, has been central in my practice for a long time, present in both my glass work, here in Mujna – Me With and in the pattern of the facade where this work is shown. For me, gávlos provides a sense of belonging and pride which is carried through generations of women.
Choosing a loop, a repetitive cycle, proceed from my desire of continuity through generations as well as a presence of strength, protection and wisdom by Máttaráhkko and my foremothers.
*gábdde – Sámi regalia
